What is Pediatric Skilled Nursing

Is Skilled Pediatric Care Best for Your Child?

When your child suffers from a chronic condition — whether minor or debilitating — you do everything in your power to provide quality care and give them the best life possible. While caring for your child is your number one priority, the reality is that you have more responsibilities than just keeping your child healthy and comfortable.

From basic to medically-complex pediatric care, our nurses work with you and your child’s doctor and insurance company to craft a custom home health care plan tailored to your child’s specific needs. We help your child stay comfortably and safely at home with their family.

Benefits of Pediatric Skilled Nursing Care

Perhaps the most prominent benefit of pediatric skilled nursing is that many medical treatments can be done at home. This means your child can stay in the safety and security of their home and feel more comfortable. And, having an in-home nurse means fewer trips to the hospital or healthcare facility.

You’ll also gain support for you and your child. Medical terms and physician-speak can be confusing. But, with a nurse as your interpreter and medical caretaker, you can understand what is going on with your child’s health. Our nurses work with you and your child’s doctor to bridge any gaps. And, our nurses communicate with your insurance company to help create a tailored health care plan that meets your child’s needs without putting you under financial pressure. We’ll take care of your child, so you can enjoy being a parent.

Pediatric Skilled Nursing

Taking care of your child can feel like a full-time job, but when you have a career and other children to care for, you may not have time to do it all. Pediatric skilled nursing care involves an RN or LPN caregiver who visits your home to provide your child with medical attention — from managing your child’s G-tube to administering medications.

We offer skilled hourly care up to 24-hours a day, seven days a week by a compassionate registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN). You’ll arrange specific times when you know you’ll need a nurse’s assistance. Whether it’s in the morning, at lunchtime, before bed, or all of the above, a specialized nurse arrives, cares for your child, and then leaves you and your family to their private time. But, a pediatric nurse can do more than care for your child. They can also communicate with your doctor and work with your insurance company to create an individualized plan of care for your loved one’s needs.

We work collaboratively to ensure care is provided, as ordered, ad in the safest manner possible. Your dedicated and compassionate skilled nurse can assist with a variety of complex medical needs, including — but not limited to:

  • Feeding tubes and suctioning
  • Apnea monitoring and pulse oximetry
  • Tracheostomy care and management
  • Ventilator management
  • Catheters, drains, and IV therapy
  • Medication administration
